Perpetual one of the country’s hardest occupied outfits (on the road more than off), the Cigars have kept their music tight, hard driving and down to earth: the Australian restrict band par excellence. Apart from the timeless, unpretentious nature of the music, an known reason for the longevity of the Cigars must be the ongoing musical team labor of 2 bottom members, Shane Pacey and Al Briton, who continue to co precede the band. This also explains the consistency of the band’s sound, instantly recognizable for 17 years now, despite personnel changes and occasional stylistic variations. Fore man Shane Pacey has long been a forceful, convincing singer, and a hard attacking, razor bright guitarist in the unused blowtorch style of Albert Collins, Joe Louis Walker, Larry McCray and other crazy string benders he’s also an extraordinary prolific songwriter, and there’s ample evidence in these tracks of his sardonic, savvy and slightly warped way with lyrics. Since then, the only changes have been on the drum stool: Sincere Colby and Joel Sutton. Along with the mix of rhythmic, roots grooves and flavors of blues, soul, funk and AB that fans have come to expect, this album saw the band branch out even more, with some tracks having an alt country feel, and others more pop rock than blues and roots based. As with all immense bands, the sum of the complete exceeds the sum of the parts and the Bond Cigars are no exception:.

When it came time to record, we sifted through the songs, including some from Eben and Frank, to work out which ones to record (thankfully, their ideas beautiful well coincided with mine!). To further confuse the puzzle there is such a thing as Australian rhythm n’ blues and there is small dispute that the Bond Cigars is its greatest victory story. Formed in 1989 the band has healthy and truly played itself into Australia s musical heart. Playing a mixture of Blues and AB, the two guitar quartet is dominated by the awesome talents of guitarist singer Shane Pacey who wrote fifteen of the albums’ nineteen songs. Eben also takes precede vocal duties on his own Make Up Your Heed lending a trivial vocal diversity. In The Cold Light Of Day sees Shane go it alone with his acoustic guitar, impartial superb! The opening track Booze Blues, a driving rocker, sets the tone for the album but the Cigars also disclose they’re proficient at bluesy ballads with track three, Lies and Tenderness. The Cigars have unleashed a scorching set of blues and rock numbers. Where it all started, the beginning recording from the Cigars. What a great bluesy rock sound!! You’re AWESOME, I love your music! You guy usually play The Gov around or on Australia Day. Loving the fresh album guys! Huge music guys! A lot of local bands conceal your huge music. Hope 2015 is a huge year for all of you. I think I beginning saw you live in Canberra..Now that was a long time ago (at minimum twenty years)and I have been buying your music and going to see you live since then Love you guy. He was resident drummer with the Blue Mountains blues jam band where he played regularly with soontobe Cigar, Eben Hale. Hi Guys, Immense pic’s, can’t wait to hear the fresh one.
